Just Call Me Addie

Finally! An outfit that feels blog-worthy! I really love this combination of schoolgirl, old-fashioned, and professional. Today was such a yucky day (very cold and windy...and...I'm whispering it...snowy) that I needed something neutral and snuggly. And layers!!

Thankfully one of my friends had just given me this adorable little jumper! I was hoping I wouldn't get to wear it until fall, but alas, weather in New England is notoriously unpredictable this time of year.

I have officially put away all of my winter coats, so this little number had to do. This is only the second time I've worn it, but I really think I love it. It takes some getting used to, being a little bold and all, but turns out it is actually rather neutral.

I don't know if you can tell, but the sleeves on this blouse are great, they are sort-of peasanty. Also love the detailing on the socks...light and dark gray plaid with little velvet bows.I'm very stressed with my thesis final drafts right now, but having a cute outfit definitely perked me up today. So, with that, I'm off to bed!

totally did not edit or crop this picture at all, sorry

Just Call Me Sadie

I can do professional. I can do professional. I can do professional....clothing. Occasionally, I have to look like a grown-up. This is one of my attempts at professional.

Simple enough. Soft cotton pleated trousers, wool/silk short-sleeve turtleneck with detailing, and a corduroy blazer. Got some texture play, but not too much color. The color comes from the intertwined glass beads, which give color, focal interest, and also, a nice shiny texture to bring the light to my face.

I promptly came home and took off my 'professional' clothes and changed into 'work day' clothes....and proceeded to get absolutely covered in rust dust and oil-based paint (that was fun, lots of nail polish remover and lots of layers of skin gone to get that off!). But I had a great time cleaning up our church!!

In other news: I'm thinking it may be a slightly bad thing that I just bought a giant bag of these "strawberried" M&Ms. They're kinda weird (def weird), but I had a small bag the other day, and was craving them, so I figured go big or go home (I got the big bag, and then went home. Hmpf).

Goodbye, hope of looking half-way decent in my swimsuit this summer....

Just Call Me Jane

Wow. So I totally just thought in my head, "JumberJane." I meant, Lumberjane. L, Natalie, L. Get your letters straight. Anyway, I kinda think "JumberJane" is cute for no reason whatsoever other than I like alliteration.

Anyway. So, this is what you get when I haven't really been wearing "real" outfits and also decide to take pictures for my blog on laundry day. It was a good hair day and I had to show it off somehow, ok? Don't judge. I know I could have chosen a better way to show it off than...flannel and cutoffs. But the cutoffs have a cute little star on the derriere...what, I'm not helping my case? Ok, I'll stop.

Did you see these amazingly fun Swedish fish eggs for Easter? I am Swedish and also happen to love Swedish Fish, so I'm a fan :-) Love it so much.

Anyway, thanks for stickin' around! We'll get back to normal around here soon (the thesis is almost done! Ah!!).

P.S> Apologies

Sigh. It's been forever since I posted for all of you lovelies who read this humble blog. I am quite sorry! There are a few reasons for that:

1.) I'm in crazy-thesis-stressed mode.
2.) God seems to be pulling me in a somewhat different direction with this blog, I just haven't quite figured it out yet.

So, until my thesis is finished and/or I figure out whatever crazy idea God has in mind, my posts will most likely be more sporadic. Thanks for hanging in there with me!

"Since then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on Earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God." ~Col. 3:1-3

Just Call Me Alice

I had a wonderful brunch with some of my friends yesterday morning. It was, unfortunately, a rainy, yucky, cold day, but I was determined to look nice, even if I couldn't quite muster up a spring dress or skirt (brrrrrr). I really needed something to warm me up...

And this caramel mocha was just the thing! Hello beautiful, please come to me with your chocolate and caramely-goodness...oops, better keep the blog PG. It was incredibly delicious, just sayin'.  Don't you love time with your girl friends? It is so the best when we can spend time building each other up and sharing in Christ. Such a blessing.

I love gray and pink together, remember? They just look so soft and lovely together. I think I've told you about this coat before, it's one of my favorite finds ever. Made by Rebecca Taylor, it is such a "ladies who brunch" but 21st century kinda coat. Sequins and satin on a jersey coat? You can't go wrong, really! Finding items with beautiful details is one of the easiest ways to look sophisticated and pulled-together.

Then just add a little fun, like a butterfly top! And some ballet flats, and...an umbrella? Guess so.

I really need a new umbrella. Mine has holes. Yes, my umbrella has holes, think about that for a second. Any suggestions on where to get a cool, out of the ordinary umbrella (preferably with automatic open/close? all the pretty ones seem to be manual!)? I'd love to know, just leave a comment!

It's another rainy day here, but that means time to catch up on blogging and the like! Enjoy your weekends :-)

Just Call Me Twiggy

All right, so honestly, this outfit is not Twiggy-ish in the slightest, nor is it really even a FashioNatalie-worthy outfit. BUT!!! Oh, oh, dear readers, my tote bag obsession has a wonderful new addition, it might be my favorite yet: this Twiggy bag!!

So I simply must show it off. Twiggy is the face of Marks & Spencer, one of the department stores in England (I even have a few pieces of clothing from there, too), and these totes are M&S's fair-trade, organic cotton shopping totes. So. In. Love.

Anyway, this is a rather boring outfit when you take away the (completely awesome! oh my gosh I'm gushing!) Twiggy tote bag. Gap tee, some gray capris, and touches of red.

Wait, touches of red? Yes! New shoes as well! I got these when I was in Florida shopping with my bestest far-away best friend. Look, she got new shoes too (hers are the lovely apple-green heels).

Just Call Me Emily

Phew! I am home and sort of back in the routine of things here. Though I was desperate to get out of work today...but that's a story for tomorrow. I am so behind on my outfit posts, so they may be a bit helter-skelter here for a few day. Something old, then something new (something borrowed? something blue?). This is what I wore to church on Sunday, a bit casual but still nice, right?

I am so in love with this kelly green tee from Target. Remember how into kelly green I am? It has the most flattering little pleat-tucks around the bodice and sleeves. And it is the. softest. cotton. ever. It's thin but not sheer, and still substantial enough to float over my body, not cling.

This belt is another favorite find...so nautical inspired, which I am totally into for spring and summer. I almost didn't buy the belt because it was too big, but when I looped it through, it sold me. What do you think?

The other thing I loved about this outfit was that I just took off the belt and switched into jeans and it was the perfect Saturday-afternoon outfit. And I was so proud of myself this past Sunday: no nap!! That's right, I did not take a nap. I worked on my poetry instead.

Oh, and on the topic of shoes. I wanted to wear heels with this outfit (the criss-cross ones here) but my mom talked me into flats for the day. So, there ya have it. Be back into regular posting soon, I hope! Thanks for stickin' around!

Just Call Me Tired

Phew! I am exhausted. I hope everyone had a great Saturday! We were busy today running around out in the sun, hosting a garage sale. Sorry, didn't get any pics of that outfit, by the time we were done doing all of our errands and such, we just went to DQ and called it a day. Not to mention I have a nice V-neck sunburn (errr...tan?) from the white tee I was wearing with my Lilly Pulitzer skirt. I'm hoping you can imagine it (the outfit. not the sunburn). If not, I'll help you out:

A straw fedora to roughen up the sweetness ...Okay, so my Lilly skirt was actually the green one with pink elephants, and though I own this exact Gap t-shirt, I was wearing my Splendid version with flutter sleeves. This Gap tee above has flutter sleeves and a braided neckline, and apparently my sister-in-law has the same exact one! Speaking of my brother and his wife, they are huge Chipotle fans, and this weekend I had my FIRST EVER Chipotle experience!

It was amazing, you guys! And I seriously think they can still eat it, even on their uber-hip 'flexitarian' diet (yeah, it's a word. trust her.). Since they're cool and all, they even gave their groomsmen Chipotle gift cards at their wedding, and I think it factored into at least a speech or two...hehehe. And I kid you not, once my brother called me and started singing the Burrito song... Life is burritoful...life's okie dokie eatin' down at Chipotle...

Right. So. Um. That's enough for one night, I think. See ya tomorrow!

Just Call Me Molly

Molly is such an American Girl name, and this is such an American girl outfit. Super classic. I watched the movie The Proposal for the third or fourth time tonight (love. that. movie. dang, can that be my life, please?) and I think this outfit would fit in that sort of classic American waterside town (it was actually filmed in Rockport, MA up by my neck of the woods).

I bought these heels back in the deep winter, and I was so anxious to wear them! I think I will get so much mileage out of them this summer with trousers, skirts, and dresses. Love the quirky little heel and crossover bands. Good quality leather shoes can take a girl so far (not that I haven't had some fun with the fakes!).

These nice dark denim clam-diggers (see, maybe I do belong in Rockport with this outfit!) have sailor buttons on the pockets, which are such a great American Classic detail. Can't go wrong with some classic Gap dark denim.

Since I've been home, I've been going through all of my things that are still here, you know, the boxes dad throws in the attic or in the garage haphazardly labeled and left for naught? Sigh! But I happened upon all of my ballet stuff...I told you I was a dancer, right? One of my first true loves!

Just Call Me Linnie

 How's it goin'?

Linnie was a girl I used to work with when I lived here in Florida. Yes, I used to live in sunny Florida and abandoned it for the land of too much snow. Now, I just come to visit my parents! Today was an easy-going day, we didn't do anything too special, hence, I didn't wear an outfit that was too special.  Just simple and comfy!

I still wasn't feeling the greatest so we stayed home most of the day and ate chocolate-covered peeps (yeah, that's right, be jealous), watched a movie, and then went to Starbucks. Starbucks has these amazing new Dark Chocolate Mochas. They are made with rather bittersweet chocolate, but the sweet dark cherry syrup really brought out the flavors. It was perfect to sip as we took a breezy walk by the water.

It was so incredibly gorgeous outside, I didn't even care that there were a ton of people watching as we took these pictures (helped by my mom...who has these amazing new Birkenstock sandals that I am rather jealous of, above right...). Hope you all are having a fantastic week (wow, I totally typed fatastic at first, but no, I do not wish a fatastic week on anyone) and are gearing up for a great weekend. Yeah? Yeah!

P.S> Packing

So I'm feeling kinda sick today. Which is not allowed. Because tonight is worship night at church and tomorrow morning I fly to Florida. So no...stomachache and headache must go away. And I just took expired Pepto Bismol. Which may be counter-productive. Sigh!

Anyway, I'm all packed and ready! I prefer to plan all of my outfits ahead and pack by actual outfit, instead of just throwing in a bunch of pieces helter-skelter. I used to do the helter-skelter method (ie. dump all shirts and shorts that are clean into bag). But ever since I tried coming up with outfits, and/or a color scheme, packing and looking good while traveling has been SO much easier! It was really a revelation for me. I always do throw in a few extra things...namely an outfit that is good for exercising/lounging/whatever and a nicer piece that I can dress up if need be. Of course, since I'm heading to Florida I packed two bikinis and two pairs of sunnies! Yay! I packed on Saturday and I am dying to wear these outfits!

Now, Pepto, you'd better make me feel better!

Just Call Me Ella

This sort of outfit just works for me. Obviously, because I wore it for Kate and Claire, pretty much the same idea (and the same cardigan, what a workhorse!). I spent most of the day at home getting ready for my trip on Wednesday to the land of sunshine and working on church stuff, but did put on a nice outfit to do errands (cough-eastercandyonclearance-cough). I think this outfit would be perfect for a "casual Friday" at an office...it is pulled together and professional but still casual and laid-back.

Did I mention how comfy these shoes from Dress Barn are? I never would have guessed, honestly! I think you might be seeing a lot of them this summer...And as for other accessories, I am just in love with bangles, especially this mustard zig-zag one. However, bangles can be slightly annoying when trying to type at work, so they often get stashed away in my bag once I get to work. That's sad, isn't it?

There is a slight chance these jeans may be too short for heels. But we are not going to discuss that. In other news, I'm working on some stuff for church like I said, and this song has been so beautiful to me today, "Meet with Me" by Ten Shekel Shirt (silly video, don't mind that, it isn't mine).

God has been drawing me closer and closer to Himself lately, and it is so incredibly lovely. I cannot tell you how much my heart yearns for our Savior. I am overflowing with His love. Amen.

"And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given. You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly." ~Romans 5:2b-6, emphasis mine

Just Call Me Clara

this is how happy I get when it's Easter!

Clara is such a pretty and vintage name, really, it is. It is also my great-grandmother's name, and this outfit/Easter somehow reminded me of her, even though I've never met her. This Easter was really, really lovely. I hope you had a great day, celebrating our Savior, who is RISEN! Easter is my favorite holiday, and the weather was perfect.

This outfit is just Easter through-and-through for me. I love the dark brown (chocolate, anyone?), but it also reminds me of the fresh earth, and that sometimes Easter isn't so warm as it was this year! But I can't tell you how many times I've put this skirt in the "to-the-thrift-store" pile, but I always seem to pull it back out. I'm glad I saved it. Have you ever done that with something, and either been glad you saved it, or sad you actually ditched it? This vintage green top, in a sheer silk and velvet with touches of lace, just screams vintage prom dress!

What fun would Easter be without some Zebra print heels? These shoes are so much fun (seriously...a rattan heel? with zebra? how can you not love these?!), but decidedly hard to walk in. They are high, and the heel juts in, so the actual heel part is not straight down, and gets very thin. Yikes! I would like to note, however, that I carried a two-year old (no, not my own, we are only planning the fake engagement here, remember? first things first!) while wearing these heels. That was quite a feet...err...feat.

While we're on the subject (are we on the subject? it worked in my head...) Easter is such a fun excuse to get pastel M&Ms and make fun desserts like this one:

this is what i do instead of work on my thesis

Oh, so........this delicate shirt has a side-zip so you can actually get it on, right? Well, silly me, didn't zip it up. At all. This morning. I took all of my outfit pics, went to church, sat through breakfast, got many compliments on the outfit, and then went to the bathroom and noticed the whole entire left side was gaping open. Why did no one tell me? How did I not notice? I guess my arm was covering it pretty well...and some of the pics were fine. Goodness!

This post is getting long (rather like our pastor's Easter sermon!)....so I'll let you go for now! I have plenty of outfit picks from the past few days I ditched you.  I'm sorry. We can still be friends, right? You might see those along the way...
