Inspiration: Dressing Modestly from a Young Man's Perspective

Today I stumbled across a great family of blogs (and they're a real family, too!). While perusing, I found the 16-year-old Josh's blog, "While I'm Waiting" I was really impressed. Let me spell it out for you: 16. Male. Waiting for his future wife with utmost purity and devotion to God. Young ladies, did you read that? It is so exciting for me, as a 22-year-old to see that young people are still dedicating themselves seriously to such pursuits of purity and faithfulness to God.

I was especially pleased to read this interview he did, relating to women dressing modestly and how it affects men. Awesome read. Thanks so much for clue-ing us in, Josh. I really think I need to take a look at some of my sartorial choices and make more room for modesty.

I will be praying about this area of my life (though I'm not entirely sure the stubborness in me is going to like the answer). But dating a Christian man has made it even more clear to me...men are visual. And it's my job as a woman to help by dressing modestly , so that he doesn't stumble. That should be joyful for me, to uphold the man I'm dating, and all of the Christian men in my life, and men in general.

Pray for me, too, as I work on this area in my life. We're all in this together, right? Thanks!
In the meantime, check out his sister's blog, too, "Feminine Farmgirl" while listening to some of Jeremy Camp's new CD, We Cry Out: The Worship Project. It is AMAZING!It just came out yesterday, but I had our local Border's set aside a copy for me and my friend. Score.

Just Call Me Casual

Nothing like jeans and a white tee for a late-summer day. Ahhhhh. It just...works. It fits. It's not trying too hard. I get so few days to be casual now, that I really relish the opportunity to throw on some jeans and sandals and call it a day.

Sometimes, it's definitely best to just go with the basics. Like, jeans, white tee, sandals. And....french fries.

Funky sunglasses just keep on giving and giving. These 70s pink babies are so much fun! They really just crank things up a notch. And I love how this cardigan shows up in all sorts of situations...for dates, work, school (when I was in school!), and hanging out.

Just Call Me Sunny

I have a chock-full post to make up for the past lame week of fashion. So my super-awesome sister-in-law (over at Girl vs. Dough) and my brother sent me a gift card to Target for my graduation (way back when) . I got to treat myself to a few new things this weekend!

This little dark-dark denim dress was on clearance, and these awesome little felt Mary Janes were $10. Um, yeah, sure, I'll take them. The shirt was a hand-me-over from one of my best friends, and the awesome vintage handbag was $3 at the thrift store.  A girl's gotta love it.

The neighbors came out to say good morning....

Yellow is my new accessories color for this autumn, I think. It is just so cheerful and has such a pop. Plus it blends well with New England fall foliage.

This is the outfit I wore to breakfast and church on Sunday morning. Then I changed things up a bit for the afternoon...

wow the colors look horribly different in these colors...the sun had gone down like woah. This is my hiking pose. Like it?

After church a certain someone of the male persuasion came over and we went on an almost-3-hour hike. It was a little bit intense for me, but as you can see, I need to get in shape. And...it was FUN! And exhilarating to get to the top, then scamper down in half the time and get ice cream. Look at that view!!
Yeah, def worth it. Especially when the male in question sees the first outfit, and the second and says, "You changed from something cute, into something cuter." Isn't it funny how guys often prefer the sporty look?

PS> How to Be Alone

This weekend, I joined an elite group of bloggers.

Those who have, in the recent weeks, been rear-ended. It's really rather an exclusive club, but, one Sunday evening on the entrance ramp of the highway, I was granted access.

See, like Jen, and....well...other bloggers, whom I just can't seem to think of right now. But don't worry, I'm mostly fine, just sore. Oh, you weren't worried about me? In that case I actually broke a few bones and had a concussion and whiplash. Are you worried yet? I'm just kidding, I needed your fake sympathy for a minute there.

Since this is a totally random post, I'm adding something to make reading it worth your while!
This quirky video is totally adorable and awesome: How to Be Alone.
